This year the NGender organising team launched our feminist book group. We met once a month to discuss a text from a feminist perspective in an informal, friendly setting. We hope the book group will continue in 2013-14.
Each month we will discuss a short novel, popular feminist non-fiction, short story, a play, a small selection of poetry, or even a film or tv programme. Feminists of any gender, from any academic discipline, or from outside academia are more than welcome.
In the March book group we had a really interesting discussion around Sylvia Plath’s only novel, The Bell Jar. The NGender Fifty Shades of Grey event took place in mid April, and the next book group session was on the 16th May. Texts are selected from participant’s suggestions, and the May group looked at Caitlin Moran’s How to be a Woman.
We hope you will be able to come along when the series starts again this year, watch this space for details. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
